We care for what you wear

As a young person living and working in Douala, I spent most of my weekdays working from Monday to Friday. Saturday was my opportunity to rest, plan for the future, explore opportunities and take care of other important parts of my life.

But laundry often took that time away from me.

I would spend two or three hours washing clothes, and by the time I finished, I was so tired that I had little energy left for anything else. Instead of using my free time to think about my future, explore business opportunities or work on my personal goals, I was exhausted from doing laundry.

I also experienced how expensive laundry services could be. On one occasion, I took about four or five dresses to a pressing business and was asked to pay 6,000 XAF. That experience made me question why laundry had to cost so much.

I started asking myself: Why should doing laundry take so much time, energy and money?

I spoke with friends and other young people and discovered that many faced the same challenge. They spent hours washing clothes because they needed clean outfits for work the following week.

I began to think about how much more people could do with their time if laundry were easier to manage. Instead of spending their free time washing clothes, they could focus on their personal development, future plans, businesses and other important goals.

That was when the idea for Dress Doctor became clear to me.

I wanted to build a service that would make laundry more convenient, affordable and reliable for people who needed it. A service that would give people back some of their time without making clean clothes a luxury.
